Madonna's Joyless American Life
Feminist academic Germaine Greer has slammed Madonna in a recent interview with Melbourne radio station JOY 94.9 FM, saying that her obsession with her career and fitness has rendered her life “joyless”.
“The thought of Madonna’s new tour,” sighed Greer, “For godsake, she’s a work nazi. I’ve only just begun to understand how joyless this woman’s life actually is. This is a woman who’s never used a single drug, who drinks nothing but Evian, who gets up at 4 in the morning, who works out for three hours a day. She might as well be a racehorse.”
Greer was a recent guest of the Melbourne Writers’ Festival, and has been speaking about her recently written work On Rage, which looks at widespread rage in indigenous men. She’s also recently lambasted Australia’s recent apology to indigenous people, calling it a bitter joke, because the apology wasn’t accepted.
