Red Ribbon Busy Bees
ACON’s Red Ribbon Working Bee, which took place on Sunday afternoon at Paddington RSL, is the beating heart of the organisation’s annual Red Ribbon Appeal, which last year raised $80,000 for HIV/AIDS.
ACON’s David Wilkins is thrilled with how it all panned out.
“The final count of ribbon’s from yesterday’s working bee was almost 40,000! We had about 200 volunteers which averages out at about 200 ribbons per person. It was a great effort and a fun day. Many thanks to all the volunteers for contributing to such an outstanding result. Thanks also to Carmen Geddit for the shows, DJ Bruce Dixon for the tunes, to The Catering Specialists for the food and to the Paddington RSL for the venue,” said David.
ACON is now on the hunt for more volunteers to sell the ribbons as part of their Red Ribbon Appeal during AIDS Awareness Week in the last week of November.
