Welcome Back Summer Gay Day!
The seeds were planted last year, now Summer Gay Day is back for a second year and it’s ready to really blossom! Book it in your diaries now – Saturday November 29. It will again be held at Kippax Lake, Moore Park.
It’s a great line up this time around – there’s a few familiar faces, some definite hot favourites, along with a few acts who are relatively new to the gay party scene.
Ruby Rose, MTV’s proud lesbian VJ and all around hottie, will be hosting the day. We’re not sure if she’ll be bringing gal pal Jess Origlasso from The Veronicas with her or not, but we are sure that she’ll do an amazing job. Ladies (and some boys), please form an orderly queue.
Dirty Laundry are a hot house of live instrumentation, vocals and electronica, and they’ll be playing live on the main stage, alongside Gold Coast duo The Stafford Brothers. These boys recently ranked number 2 nationally in the annual InTheMix DJ poll. When you hear them do their thing at Summer Gay Day you’ll understand why.
You probably know Melbourne Producer and DJ Mobin Master best for his smash hit of the year Show Me Love. He’ll be bringing his thumping dance anthems to the main stage. Have a listen to Show Me Love here:
This year two DJs are coming over from the UK to play – Lisa German and Paul Heron. Lisa’s played at Mardi Gras before and is now a resident at Hed Kandi. Paul is the resident DJ at Crash in England.
Alan Thompson consistently ranks in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs in the world. He was a hit at last year’s Summer Gay Day and we can’t wait to hear him to do it all again.
Other DJs include Kate Monroe, Brisbane’s Neroli, Eddie Coulter, Jason Barry and Beth Yen.
The Videokidz will also be there, combining live visuals, animation and music, along with Matt Sawyer, 4 O’Clock Dancers, The Hoopaholics and yes, even Aunty Mavis.
