When it comes to music festivals in Australia, business is booming! In the last few years we’ve seen newcomers like V Festival and Future Music Festival explode onto the scene. Mainstayers like Parklife and Big Day Out are still going strong. And of course, in the gay world there are some very strong contenders – Mardi Gras has just celebrated 30 years, and Midsumma 20.
This year for the first time, Same Same’s rock n’roll lovin’ brother FasterLouder is putting the power in your hands, and is asking you to rate the festivals you’ve been to in the last 12 months on all the important ingredients like the line up, the venue, the sound and the crowd.
This is your chance to tell promoters, performers and venues what you really think. Just by voting you will go into the draw to win flights, accommodation and tickets to Australia’s favourite festival as voted by you.
The major gay festivals that are featured include Mardi Gras and Summer Gay Day in Sydney, Midsumma in Melbourne, Queensland’s Big Gay Day, Fluffy Festival and Girlfest, and Adelaide’s Feast.
What’s also important to note is that this is not a popularity contest – each event is ranked on their overall average score – not the total number of votes given – which means the smaller festivals are on an equal playing field with the big boys.
Voting is now open and closes at the end of September, so head to www.festivalawards.com.au.
