Loud And Proud - The Countdown Is On
Not long to go now and Perth’s 19th annual Pride Parade will hit the streets. Saturday October 25 to be precise. This year, in the spirit of the theme of Re-Invention, Connections Nightclub will be putting on a party to remember.
Connections Nightclub owner Tim Brown is thrilled about what they have planned. “We’re taking over all the laneways behind Connections to provide additional party space below. They’ll be licensed and we’ll have nearly 500 square metres of extra space. People will even be able to enjoy coffee, tea and more all night, at one of the area’s most exciting new cafés, Urbanistar.”
The DJ line up is hot hot hot, and includes Sydney’s Kate Monroe, Triple Js Sharif Galal, Paul Payne from the UK and Perth’s sizzling local talent including Dirty Den, Mandy, Dave Jackson, Michy T and Joby B.
There will be three spaces on offer – the main room will be all about dancing with Kate Monroe headlining, belting out a three hour set of electro, tribal, house and disco. There’ll be three big drag shows too, so make sure you don’t miss those. The terrace will be a more chilled out option, with Sharif Galal, Mandy, Joby and Phil manning the decks there. The third space will take place in the carpark, believe it or not. Connections plan to reinvent the car park and surrounding shopping lanes into what Pride are calling “a mystical garden”. It will contain “a larger than life, magic faraway tree that has to be seen to be believed”. Expect plenty of camp classics here, and an awesome final show.
The tree is a symbol of this year’s Pride theme – Reinvention.
The party will be hosted by professional housewife, media
personality, former Celebrity Big Brother contestant and face of the Snickers TV ad Vanessa Wagner.
Pride WA have acknowledged that it’s been a tough year for them, but they’re certain that this event will be a huge success, and will help secure the future of the organisation.
Pride Co-President Andrew Baietta says, “This is the only Official Pride Party, and the only party following the Pride Parade that will directly benefit Pride WA Inc, and ensure its sustainability as we head toward the 20th annual Pride Festival in 2009.”
Presale tickets for the Official Pride Party at Connections Nightclub are only $25 for Pride members and $30 for non members. Pre-sale tickets will only be available at this price until midnight on October 24. On the day, and for the first hour of the event, tickets will be $30 for everyone. Thereafter, all door sales will be $35 for everyone.
The Official Pride Party at Connections Nightclub kicks off immediately after the Parade finished on Saturday October 25 and runs until 6am in all areas.
