Todd McKenney's Drug Case Adjourned

Todd McKenney’s court hearing was adjourned today until November 6 because a crucial witness for the prosecution wasn’t able to attend.

“She is a crucial witness in the proceedings as she was present when the alleged drug was allegedly found on the accused,” NSW Police said in their application to the court for the date change.

McKenney was charged with possession of the drug gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) back in April this year. The Dancing With the Stars judge and radio show host allegedly had the equivalent of ten doses of the drug in his pocket when he was discovered unconscious in a park over the Anzac Day long weekend.

McKenney has maintained his innocence throughout speaking publicly soon after, claiming that his drink was spiked and that the drugs were planted on him.

In his statement to police he also mentioned that he’d taken his pants off at a party and had changed into a pair of shorts that he’d borrowed from a friend, because he was overheating from dancing. He thinks this is when the drugs were slipped into his pants pocket.

To make matters worse, McKenney was on a good behaviour bond at the time for drink driving.

McKenney is currently starring as Mitzi in the stage musical of Priscilla – Queen of the Desert, which recently opened in Sydney for a return season. At a press conference for the show recently McKenney said of the court case, “I’m just trying to handle it with as much class and as much dignity as I can.”

i think we can all understand how these things work, and why people make decisions when backed into corners... i am genuinely intrigued to see how it all holds up in court.

I watched him last night in Priscilla. HE was fabulous. While watching him I totally didn't think of this whole fiasco at whole.

I've learnt my lesson from this case... I'm taking my pants off when ever I go out!... Seems like an awesome excuse!

talented man. made a mistake. unfortunately got caught. such a shame that he lied, but then again, he kinda had to. those of us who dabble in drugs have to play the game. i hope he gets charged, but that he doesn't get a punishment that's too harsh. definitely no prison time! he doesn't belong put away... but he does need to know that if you're gonna take g, you have to play by the rules or you end up in situations like this.
