Homovember 'Tache Bash

We’re starting to get to the pointy end of Homovember – our newly appointed challenge to grow the gayest moustache ever to raise money for prostate cancer.

To celebrate our facial growths, come join us at a Homovember party next weekend to compare moustaches, admire the perseverance and enjoy the Mo down.

The party is called the Homovember ‘Tache Bash and it’s a little Friday night get together for moustache growers, moustache admirers, friends, lovers and future lovers.

The ‘Tache Bash is happening on the top floor of the Taxi Club from 9pm on Friday November 28.

Surely it isn't about being 'trendy'. Movember is one way of making men (and women) focus on mens health issues in a fun way. People at my work are doing Movember and we get a message every week about how much money they are raising plus photos. This comes from the Secretary of my department (I'm a public servant), My son in law (whose not particularly radical) is growing a mo. I think homovember is great ( good work guys at same same). Let's focus on the positives

Yes, exactly. The issue of prostate cancer has to be MADE into something FUN to get the public to do something about it. Which I think is sad.

But Ash this is the very point of movember. Men on the whole need to be encouraged to seek out health professionals and this in some way tries to destigmatise prostate health and examination. It's raising money but also awareness.

It's kinda sad that the issue of prostate cancer can only be put into the public domain with the gimmick of growing a moustache during one month of the year. Women don't have to grow armpit hair to raise awareness of breast cancer so why men should grow a moustache for mens' health is beyond me. If prostate cancer were a 'trendy' celebrity disease like breast cancer (think Olivia Newton-John, Kylie Minogue, Sarah Murdoch as patron) we wouldn't be calling for men to grow anything. Hmmm maybe we need to have a special event to raise awareness of dumb ass posts?

Unfortunately we dont live in a perfect world and people are generally ignorant and/or complacent when it comes to most issues. So we get ribbons of every colour, merchandising of all sorts sold at train stations, fun runs, fund raising concerts, etc etc etc...
