Tina Arena and Freemasons have confirmed that they’ll be performing as part of next year’s Mardi Gras festivities.
The Freemasons were here less than a year ago as part of New Years’ Eve celebrations in Sydney. They’ve certainly been busy since then, working with Kylie on The One and their most recent remix of Kelly Rowland’s Work is still ringing in our ears.
“We are so excited to have The Freemasons headline at Mardi Gras party next year,” says Mardi Gras general manager Anna McInerney. “The guys had such a ball last time they played at our party, they are just as excited as we are. Plus, they told us they have some new tracks that they are saving for us, and together with the other talent we are talking to, it’s going to be a kick ass party!”
Tina Arena recently confirmed in an interview with SX that she’ll be touring Australia in March next year. While she hasn’t confirmed a show at Party, it seems likely.
“It was my idea to integrate with Mardi Gras [festival],” said Tina, “The gay and lesbian community has always been so incredibly gracious to me and supportive of everything I’ve done – so it’s about payback and saying thanks.”
She went on to talk about her 2005 Mardi Gras show, when she sang Symphony Of Life. “I remember I had to fight to stay awake until 2am to go on stage… And I was pregnant at the time and had no idea! I had wondered why I was so fatigued and glowing! I was literally curled up in the corner and said ‘wake me at 1.45’!”
Tina will be performing at the State Theatre as part of the Festival.
