New Home For Inquisition XVII

Inquisition XVII, Sydney Leather Pride Association’s annual leather and fetish party, will be held in August this year, and will also be moving to a new venue.

For years Inquisition XVII has been held at Entertainment Quarter, with the beating heart of the event taking place within The Dome. While SLPA are yet to officially announce the new venue, our sources have confirmed that the party will be moving to The Metro on George Street. There’ll be two dance spaces, outdoor smoking areas, three bars, the same high quality production standards as well as the return of shows. Further details about the line up will be announced during Leather Pride Week. While the official date is still being locked in, it’s likely to be mid-August.

Given the new date, Inquisition XVII won’t be part of Leather Pride Week this year, but it will be part of a second leather festival.

This year Leather Pride Week will kick off on May 3. Highlights include a fundraiser at Manacle which will help get Sydney’s Mr Leather over to Chicago to compete for the title of International Mr Leather, the return of SLPA Artspace at Aurora Gallery in Newtown, a life drawing class, a trivia night and a formal fetish three course dinner on Thursday May 7.

Leather Pride Week will end with ‘Black Indulgence’ at the Midnight Shift, the official wrap up party, on Sunday 10 May from 5pm – 11pm. Mark Alsop will be the headliner and there will also be a live bondage and fetish show. Tickets will be $25 for the general public, $20 for members, and will be on sale soon over the counter at the video bar of the Midnight Shift.

Well I hate the party at "The Forum" is that the latest name for that hell hole of a venue at Fox ??? Metro is a different venue, so maybe a change is good for them as they need it. Come on Inquistion parties recently have been so boring, I have been to better parties at Manacle recentlly at half the price. Freemasons played at The Metro and the vibe was great, the security were terrible so they will need to get this sorted.

The Metro has form as a party venue, and it's a lot easier to get to and from than the Dome+Forum in the Entertainment Quarter. Anyone know what difference there is in venue capacity?

Went to Inquisition last year at Forum and Dome - space was overkill and party boring. Hopefully change of venue will pick it up a bit. Luv Metro and all it's nooks and crannies (and yes I said crannies and not fannies :) ). But leather and fetish on George Street will be interesting.....hmmmmm!!!!

I missed last years Party but went to many years worth including the Hordern but The Metro ? its an awesome venue but I just wonder how welcoming the George St crowd would be ? last time I was on George St it was feral on a Sat night. Fine if you can get the taxi to drop you at the front but would hate to be walking there.

The Shift has long been a supporter of the Sydney Leather community and its just fitting to host a wrap party . Shift also host the Fair day during the start of the leatehr Pride Week.

Let's hope the shows do return and that there is food for sale-selling nothing but drinks for the last few years has been totally irresponsible. Also without any shows or entertainment it has just been a dance party (YAWN) for the last few years and the numbers have been dropping off.

I have fond memories of that party in the Hordern. The saws with the sparks flying, the guy threading himself through the tennis racket. Girl tied to pole being carried around the Hall...........this is what made Inquisition so great for my gang. Am still worried about the George St crowd on Sat night though.

George street is a zoo on a Sat night and I ain't gonna were me fetish there sorry! How about 'The Factory" in Marrickville as a venue for Inquisition? It's big, has two rooms, is easy to get to, and has a great dance floor and stage for shows, and best of all is in a gay friendly area UNLIKE George St. on a Saturday night!
