Mardi Gras' New Home
New Mardi Gras are moving to new headquarters at Suites 6 and 7, 94 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, just next door to clothing store Daly Male and across the road from The Columbian.
The building is owned by the City of Sydney. The office is currently being fitted out internally and New Mardi Gras hopes to be able to move in around the end of June.
“The City has again shown their support and understanding of the importance of Mardi Gras to our community and Sydney by agreeing to become our landlord,” New Mardi Gras Chair David Imrie told Same Same.
“We consider that this move will bring us closer to our community and to the jewel in our crown, the Mardi Gras Parade.”
A City of Sydney spokesperson said, “We are delighted Mardi Gras is moving their headquarters to Oxford St, Darlinghurst in the heartland of the GLBT community. This move signals a renewed confidence in the area and we hope the decision will encourage a range of other distinctive GLBT businesses to relocate to the area.”
City Of Sydney have confirmed that New Mardi Gras have a five year lease arrangement with the City with options for three one year extensions.
Mardi Gras’ offices and workshop are currently located on Trafalgar Street in Petersham. Justin Green, Mardi Gras’ Workshop Manager, will continue to occupy the Petersham location.
