As we reported early last month, French DJ and producer David Guetta will be headlining in the RHI at Mardi Gras Party 2010.

Guetta’s track Sexy Bitch featuring Akon is Australia’s number one single at the moment, replacing the Guetta-produced Black Eye Peas track I Got A Feeling. And of course we all remember the worldwide hit When Love Takes Over, featuring Kelly Rowland.

“David was our number one choice for next year’s party and I’m pleased to say we got him,” said NMG CEO Anna McInerney in a statement released today. “His star has been on the rise for some time, but we’re going to bring him to Sydney for Mardi Gras just as he becomes massive. We think his sound will go down a treat with the audience in the RHI.

“Given the split between Parade and Party this year we recognise the need to ensure that the Party holds its own,” said McInerney. “This year’s party will have a truly world-class line-up to ensure its success.”

News of Guetta’s confirmation comes at the same time as New Mardi Gras’ CEO Anna McInerney’s resignation, after almost five years with the organisation. New Mardi Gras will be advertising for her replacement.

“It was an extremely difficult decision to reach,” said McInerney. “With Mardi Gras there is always the temptation to go for one more year. It is a role that I have loved and I’m immensely proud of the progress the organisation, its staff, volunteers and partners have made in the last few years.”
