Australian Idol Lesbian Voted Out
Australian Idol has lost two female contestants in recent weeks – bisexual Kim Cooper and lesbian cowgirl Kate Cook.
While Cook (2nd picture) was open about her sexuality on the show, Cooper (1st picture) managed to keep it out of the spotlight, telling the Daily Telegraph that she was relieved that it didn’t come up while she was on the show.
21-year-old Cooper was voted off the show a little over a week ago. Now back in her hometown of Townsville, Cooper told the Daily Telegraph, “It’s not that I wasn’t open on the show; it was something that never came up and I don’t think it’s something to flaunt. I’m not the type of girl who makes out with other girls at clubs for free drinks.”
Cooper is currently dating a 25 year old guy. “I feel the term ‘bisexuality’ has such a stigma attached to it because of girls who behave like that. I was with my last girlfriend for over a year and we lived together.”
Meanwhile lesbian cowgirl hat wearing Kate Cook was voted off last night. She has defended being open about her sexuality on the show, saying, “I think, the more you are open and honest the more people love you, I don’t think being open about my sexuality changed anything.
“You’ve just got to be real and open with people, I don’t know how else to be. People knew what I was about, and god bless em for getting behind me.”
Meanwhile, contestant Nathan Brake’s (3rd picture) sexuality is generating a lot of speculation in the Australian Idol forums. Ninemsn’s Music Fix site recently wrote: “It’s clear Nathan is trying to play down those gay rumours — he starts off by declaring he’s had a girlfriend for three years. Yeah, because no gay guy ever had a girlfriend as teenager.”
