Brekky On Triple J Goes Gay

Continuing to establish itself as Australia’s ‘youth broadcaster’, Triple J has announced that its new Breakfast team for 2010 will be comic newcomers Tom Ballard (pictured, left) and Alex Dyson – who at 19 and 21 will be the youngest brekky team in the country. And not only that, Tom is gay, or a “woolly-woofter/queermo/fagatron”, as he put it in his show for the Melbourne Comedy Festival this year.

Dyson and Ballard were discovered by Triple J Program Director Chris Scadden at the Raw Comedy Final in 2006. After a stint slogging it out on the graveyard shift the lads were swiftly promoted to Weekend Breakfast, where they have been trying out their funny bits on the hung over and early risers ever since.

The pair met at playgroup in Warrnambool, the isolated coastal town of Victoria, which was also home to fellow breakfast funny man Dave Hughes. Who would have thought sheep and rain could be so conducive to developing a sense of humour.

Breakfast with Tom & Alex weekdays 6 – 9am from Monday 11th January 2010.

I went to College with Alex (we called him "Dyso"), and he's a really funny guy. Also very friendly; always up for stopping in the corridor or on the walk to or from uni to have a chat. You all should listen. :)

On Josh Thomas' podcast today, he confirmed he's going out with Tom Ballard! Still kinda ridiculous that society demands that people have to out themselves though.

Okay, let's clear this up: they're both uncut. They talked about it on their podcast. Tom even said his Dad made a big thing of making sure Tom cleaned underneath his foreskin when he was about 5. His Mum & Dad had a discussion about whether or not to have him cut before he was born and decided not to - so Dad was very concerned that Tom was clean. Alex just said straight out that he was uncut. It's all personal preference of course - my original post was just being a bit cheeky because I wish they were both cut! They're hotties!
