Future Entertainment and Nevermind have made all our New Years dreams come true. This Thursday legendary gay DJ Danny Tenaglia will be flying into Sydney for an intimate set at Nevermind, and it won’t be some measly two-hour set. Brace yourselves for six hours of Danny Tenaglia, baby.
Danny will be riding high after his sets at the Summadayze tour over the weekend, as well as a special NYE performance at Sydney’s Shore Thing. Before that, it’d been more than a decade since we’d seen him in the country. The news of his tour was met with joy when it was announced late last year, but we’ve all been hanging out for a chance to catch him in an intimate setting. Well here’s your chance!
Danny got his start in New York way back in the 70s and has been a seminal name across dance culture since then, but he’s showing no signs of slowing down yet. Tenaglia once said in an interview that it’s gay djs who know how to start, and finish, a party. “A lot of my favourite DJs who I revere, who touched me emotionally, were openly gay,” Danny told Muzik magazine in 2002. “Larry Levan, Shep Pettibone. There is definitely something that comes out of a gay DJ that is different emotionally.”
Danny Tenaglia will play Nevermind this Thursday 7th January. Tickets go on sale from 10am Wednesday 6th January, exclusively on www.inthemix.com.au.
