Quirky songstress Kate Miller-Heidke has been the subject of ‘death-prank’, a la Jeff Goldblum (minus the on air confirmation from Richard Wilkins).
Last week news emerged on a fairly suspicious looking web page that the Brisbane singer had been killed in car accident in South Central LA. The site, which was emblazoned with both the Yahoo 7 and ABC news logos, reported that “the 28-year-old Miller-Heidke sustained the fatal injuries in a multi-car crash [and] was pronounced dead at Pikeville Medical Center.”
It went on to say that “the cause of the crash was blamed on the cell phone she was using to update her Twitter feed when driving in her Toyota Prius”.
Despite the seemingly obvious fabrication of the story, a handful of fans expressed concern, leading the singer to declare via her Twitter: “Definitely not dead. It was some wank-stick trying to get traffic to his website. Thanks for the concern though.”
Same Same has been unable to get in contact with said wank-stick for comment.
