Comedian, commentator and self-professed “Lord Of The Mince” will be bringing his latest hit show to Australia this year, his seventh tour down under.
“I, Julian Clary, have done for mincing what Michael Flatley did for Irish dancing,” said Clary in a statement. “But has the bottom fallen out of the homosexual meat market? I must tour my kingdom to find out… In these difficult times I feel I should go and comfort my people in the provinces.”
Having performed over 50 sold out shows across the UK to rave reviews, Julian Clary feels it is his absolute duty to now satisfy his Australian fans.
“I’m 50. The shame of it. This will be an intimate evening – a celebration, no less, of my twenty-five years in the camp spotlight: how I got there and why I refuse to leave. Come and see me before they put me in a home for tired old knackers.”
Julian has come a long way since his early days as a singing telegram boy and teenage sausage dog. He is best known in Australia for his television shows Terry And Julian and the cult hit Sticky Moments on the ABC.
He has toured the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand many times and also appeared in Boy George’s memorable West End musical, Taboo, and as the Emcee in Cabaret at London’s Lyric Theatre. His autobiography, A Young Man’s Passage, was published in June 2006 and was a Sunday Times bestseller, and his first novel, Murder Most Fab, was published in 2007. His second novel, Devil In Disguise, was published in May 2009.
