Natalie Bassingthwaighte Wears It With Pride

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has dedicated her new single, Love Like This, to ACON’s Wear It With Pride campaign, with all of her profits from the single going to the ongoing support of the gay, lesbian, bi and transgender community.

The Wear It With Pride campaign launches on February 2, and commemorates the Federal Government’s amendment of 85 pieces of legislation last year, which discriminated against same-sex couples. The new education campaign aims to increase awareness and understanding of these reforms within the community and covers a variety of themes including employee entitlements, privacy rights, tax, superannuation, child support and insurance. Many simply updated the definition of ‘defacto partner’, ‘parent’ and ‘child’ meaning that numerous benefits and privileges that heterosexual couples have had available to them without question are now afforded to same sex couples and their children.

The video for Love Like This features members from the GLBT community, as well as other personalities, including Kylie Gillies (The Morning Show), Richard Reid (Today Show), drag performer Courtney Act, Dr Kerryn Phelps (former Head of the AMA) and Adam Sutton (Heath Ledger’s inspiration for Brokeback Mountain ).

“I would so love everybody to get behind this campaign and the message of this song as it would illustrate to the world how the whole country endorses and celebrates the LGBT community and these reforms,” says Natalie. “I support equal rights for all Australians and I hope that is what Love Like This and our video will say.”

Good on Natalie for doing this. She could've had a great clip that didn't have anything to do with Gays and Lesbians. I think it's a fun song and a cute clip.

I'm really impressed by both the video and the 'wearitwithpride' campaign. Go Nat Bass - you wanted to be a gay icon and your walking the walk as well as talking the talk. Respect.

I was in this clip! The atmosphere on the day was amazing. Everyone was happy and chatting like they were old friends, even though we had all never met before. It had a real "family feel" about it. Well done to the editors for turning that prop warehouse into something that really looks fantastic!

Great clip but as for the campaign, I can't read some of the t-shirts. i don't think ACON will get anymore federal money for education. GLRL put in a much better show.
