A report in the Queensland Times today says that a gay man ‘ran down’ his younger lover because he went home with a woman on their night out.
23-year-old Brendan Gannaway was riding his bike through an Ipswich suburb on his way to work at 6am, when allegedly, his 34-year-old ex-lover, Craig Munro, hit Gannaway with a car. According to the report, the collision ‘launched’ the young man 7-metres in the air.
Munro is now on trial in an Ipswich court facing charges of attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The incident was allegedly sparked by a night out the two men shared days earlier. Gannaway allegedly kissed a female friend and then went home with her, without Munro. The report also says that Munro suffered a drug overdose that night, but that the couple agreed to talk about their issues over the coming days.
“I told him I would kill him – I shouldn’t have done it. I should have just bashed him,” Munro told a police officer when he brought himself to Ipswich police station hours later to confess to the hit and run.
Surprisingly, Gannaway did not suffer any major injuries the morning he was hit.
