Gonna Make You Sweat
A new Saturday night kicks off this weekend at Phoenix, called Sweat. Promoted by ex-Mardi Gras chair Marcus Bourget, Sweat’s point of difference will be its music, providing “the deep, pounding sound of the Miami Underground”.
“Sweat is all about men and muscle,” says Bourget. “I don’t expect to see many shirts on after midnight. The stage will be set for uninhibited dance floor action. And we promise to deliver the music to make this happen. Our DJs will provide the inspiration. The boys will provide the perspiration.”
And as for the DJ line up – the opening night will feature: Scott Pullen, who has played at some of Sydney’s best parties including Extra Dirty, Sleaze, Action, Harbour Party and Mardi Gras; Eddie Coulter, who has residencies at DTPM Sydney and Saturday Fucking Nights; and Gavyn Vincze.
Sweat is at Phoenix, 34 Oxford Street, first Saturday of every month, kicking off Sat Feb 6 from 10pm. Phoenix no longer has a lock out. Door charge is $10 before 11pm, $20 afterwards.
