Mardi Bar Is Bigger and Longer This Mardi Gras
The countdown is on until the Same Same Mardi Bar returns for 2010, this time bigger and longer than last year’s popular event series. As well as international stars Brent Corrigan and Amande Lepore, this year we’re pleased to welcome Absolut Vodka into the family as the Presenting Partner of the most exciting thing to hit Oxford Street since electricity.
Absolut are launching their new No Label bottle at the Mardi Bar. It’s a naked bottle with no label and no logo, as it doesn’t matter what’s on the outside, it’s the inside that really matters.
The Same Same Mardi Bar presented by Absolut No Label runs from Wednesday February 24 to Saturday March 6, and is held at Nevermind on Oxford Street. As a special bonus for being a Same Same member, the first 50 Same Samers will get free entry and their first drink free thanks to Absolut No Label every night! The fun of the Mardi Bar kicks off on Wednesday February 24 for the Mardi Bar Launch Party featuring Brent Corrigan from 9pm. Brent will be on stage at 10pm, and we’re going to be having some fun with him, playing games, answering questions and even a game of Twister that you can be a part of. On Thursday February 25, the doors swing open at 9pm for a Hanky Panky party featuring the world’s favourite twink Brent Corrigan. This is a hanky code party, so when you arrive you’ll be able to select the hanky that best suits what you’re looking for that night. The climax of the night will be a real life re-creation of an adult scene on stage featuring Brent and some friends. Um, hot much?
The Mardi Gras season kicks into second gear on Friday February 26 for the Disgraceland Arrivals Party. Starting at 9pm on the night before the Parade, come join a boat load of fresh interstate and international new best friends as Courtney Act launches a brand new Carnivale themed production show that will have you dancing all night.
On Saturday February 27, Saturday F#cking Night presents Mardi F#ucking Gras will be the most pumping place on the strip to keep the party going once the last float has wound its way down Oxford Street. The Mardi Bar will be open from 11pm to give the street some time to clear. To guarantee your place, pre-sale tickets are available from Same Same right now for $20 to avoid any queues on the night.
The Mardi Bar comes to life for the second week of Mardi Gras on Wednesday March 3 with a superstar that we’ve come to love as the patron saint of Nevermind. Come join the world’s #1 transsexual as we have a Games Night with Amanda Lepore from 9pm for a night of fun and games as you get to know her up close and personal on stage.
On Thursday March 4, the Hanky Panky party returns. You can choose your coloured hanky code that shows exactly what you’re looking for from 9pm, then join Amanda Lepore for the last time at Nevermind as she shows us why she’s one of the most amazing women on the planet.
With one sleep to go before the Mardi Gras Party, Nevermind will host our annual Disgraceland Night Before on Friday March 5 from 9pm to 5am. We’ll make it worth your while to pop out for “just one drink” with a massive Carnivale show with Courtney Act and a packed club full of tourists and locals.
The final night of Mardi Bar is on Saturday March 6, when Saturday F#cking Night presents Mardi Bar Closing Party! Running from 10pm to 5am, we’re going to send the Mardi Gras period off with a bang. Come join us in tearing down the walls as we close the chapter on another year of Mardi Gras.
The Same Same Mardi Bar presented by Absolut is at Nevermind Nightclub, 163 Oxford Street in Darlinghurst.
