Grindr gets tough on sexy pics

Photos of underwear, pubic hair, bare skin below the waist, and sexually explicit imagery of any kind are now no longer accepted under Grindr’s tough new rules.

All users of the popular gay male hook-up iPhone application are warned they must obey its guidelines or their photos and text will be cropped or removed, as Grindr struggles to comply with Apple’s strict family-friendly PG-13 standards for all iPhone apps.

“No bare skin below the waistline (hip bone area) or above the upper thighs can be shown,” the new guidelines specify. “Pants and shorts must be worn normally, buttoned, and not pulled or hanging down.

Also unacceptable are “images that show suggestive or overly sexual poses,” and pictures which “contain sex props and toys, including the use of fruits/vegetables.”

Sexy profile text is also facing a clampdown: “No sexually explicit or overly suggestive text,” say the guidelines.

“No text referring to genital size or sexual acts. Expressions of a desire to engage in unprotected sex is not allowed.”

Grindr uses can still send explicit images and messages to each other via private messaging on the app.

The US-created gay hook-up application recently marked its first birthday recently with parties in many large cities around the world, including in Sydney. Its makers announced that over 500,000 people now use Grindr, and a version for lesbians and straight people is in the pipeline.

there was an awesome guy on there that was called "Screw Bella" he had a pic of the two boys from twilight getting it on as his profile pic and they deleted his account.
Not really much of a Grindr fan either Marcus, had it for a month and deleted it, the people on it are crazier than the freaks on Manhunt and Gaydar, if you want to hook up with closet guys use Squirt.org instead because honestly the level of proffessionalism and ettiquette is much better lol

What about all the titty applications? Booby a day type of stuff?

I got banned for over a week, not because of any sexually explicit imagery or text, but because I was "flipping the bird" in my profile pic, as Grindr said in the email to me.

Good old Apple.

Another reason to use Android phones? Google has an "adult" marketplace...

I think with the evolution of technology, soon noone will talk at all. It'll just be text based.

Why call a site Grinder and then get all puritanical about the pics? Do they really believe that people are using it mostly to "chat with mates"!

What's with the no fruit rule? I get that bananas are phallic, but what about apples? Or even an apple logo?

These rules are completely hypocrytical as Apple allows "beautiful boobs' and "watch her strip' applications to be freely downloaded onto iphones.

don't worry grindr, just move to a new platform that doesn't require a big brother presence (ie. non-apple mobile phones) and then we can be men the way god intended men to be.
