Singing star Katy Perry surprised and delighted local lesbians when she turned up to Melbourne’s Grouse Party on Friday night.

The visiting I Kissed a Girl singer danced on stage and posed for photos, say Same Same’s spies at the party, held monthly at The Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood.

“After sitting out in her van on the phone to famous fiancé, Russell Brand, the star entered wearing a black bob wig, and went fairly unnoticed on the busy dancefloor for some time before Grouse Party goers caught on and word spread,” says Grouse Party promoter Lia Tilson.

“Having shot to fame with her hit single I Kissed A Girl, Katy proved herself to be very down to earth and gay-friendly, dancing on stage and getting up close and personal with lots of local lesbians.”

Recently named as Maxim’s Sexiest Woman Alive, Perry, who was in town for a few promotional shows, turned up at the Grouse Party just after she gatecrashed Melbourne High School’s year 12 formal. Out lesbian celeb Ruby Rose was part of Perry’s entourage for the night.

Perry’s fiancé Russell Brand visited Australia in June, when Same Same spotted him smooching a drag queen.

Melbourne’s Grouse Party takes place monthly at the Bendigo Hotel, with the next party slated for Friday 10th September.
