After narrowly avoiding blazing pieces of a Russian satellite when arriving in New Zealand last week (they were “40 seconds away from disaster” according to the NZ Herald), the Pet Shop Boys made a triumphant return to Australian shores on the weekend.
Their first concert here in 12 years at the V Festival was warmly received by fans despite a startling number of backstage malfunctions. “Our computers crashed at the end of “Integral” and the power for the lighting and video went down twice,” wrote Neil Tennant on PetShopBoys.co.uk. “The fantastic audience made up for it though and made us feel really welcome.”
One fan made off with more than they bargained for though with the flashy Dior tailcoat that Tennant wore during the performance disappearing after the Sydney show.
The Pet Shop Boys headline their own solo show at the Hordern Pavilion this Friday April 6th. Unlike the 75-minute V Festival show, the Hordern show will be the entire full-length Pet Shop Boys show.
Tickets are available now through Ticketek on 132 849.
