Gorgeous 19-year-old Andrej Pejic is in demand as a model of the latest fashions – for both men and women.
Aussie department store giant Myer just joined forces with the Bosnian-born, Melbourne-based male model, who is known for wearing (and wearing it well!) a bridal gown in Jean Paul Gaultier’s Paris show last month. Pejic will help relaunch Myer’s revamped store in Melbourne tonight.
The femininely slender male with long jet blond hair will also be the face, along with Karolina Kurkova, for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring/ Summer 2011 campaign, as well as the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs, with Ginta Lapina.
Androgyny is the new black. RAD by Rad Hourani’s collection in New York Fashion Week was gothic chic and it was quite hard to tell what models were male and female.
Pejic, with Chadwick’s Model Management in Sydney, is one of a few androgynous models, but is certainly taking the fashion world by storm. Many believe he is a sign of a changing industry and world. While he admits that he could be part of a social movement, he also realizes “trends come and go.”
Hopefully this is a trend that lasts a long time, like Chanel handbags.
