It looks like this year’s Brisbane Pride will go down in history as one of the most successful and passionate Prides to date. It saddens me to say this, but all good things must come to an end and this weekend is set to take Pride out with a bang!

This Saturday sees the Annual Pride Pink Pub Prowl taking place, and boy does it sound like a lot of fun. Starting at the Sportsman Hotel with some speed pool games to get everyone acquainted with each other, the bus will board at 2pm as Pride tries to pack the biggest amount of activity into 4 hours. Some of this year’s Pink Pub Prowl highlights will include a BBQ at Kangaroo Point Cliffs hosted by Gay 4 X 4 Club, historical delving into Brisbane’s lesbionic church windows and Mt. Olivet Hospital site, never before seen touring of our favourite Brisbane Queer clubs and of course a drink or two, and surprise entertainment along the way to keep the festivities going.

The 2011 Pink Pub Prowl will then finish up at the Sportsman Hotel for Rejoice & Redecorate – the official Pride closing party. Join the Pride committee as they finally take a moment to exhale in style and celebrate the successful Pride Festival at The Sportsman Hotel, the newly crowned Queens Ball venue of the year. Expect the very best of Sporties hospitality and entertainment with special guest performers and some of the finest showgirls in town, and the entertainment doesn’t stop there! There will be a speed pool comp, raffles and a wrap up of all the festival highlights.

This year’s Pride Festival, march and rally saw a record amount of individuals, businesses and community groups coming together to ensure that the festival not only stayed afloat but would continue for sometime to come. So be sure to come and celebrate this year’s successful Pride by showing your support in recognising the great work done this year by the Pride committee.

Now if you thought with the official Pride closing party, that all things Pride were over for 2011, then you thought wrong!

On Sunday Holes & Poles has teamed up with Brisbane’s Sunday session for all sexual preferences Qsesh, for a Brisbane Pride Festival fund-raiser that is not to be missed. Expect a night of burlesque featuring Bertie Page, Hotte Chokolate, Blue Velvet, Frankie Vandellous, a showcase of amazing queer music talent featuring Looking Glass Liars, Rawr Vanity, The Ukulele Sisters, Sleeping Cities and beats by DJ Arsee. With all profits from the event going straight back into the Brisbane Pride Festival for 2012, this is a must attend event. So be sure to check out Barsoma this Sunday from 5pm onwards.
