Brisbane’s Equal Love is taking the fight for equality to the Australian Christian Lobby’s front doorstep.
The Australian Christian Lobby claims to be a religious organisation, which in recent times appears to be lobby group based on bigotry. Spearheading the campaign against marriage equality in Australia, it recently boasted of its leading role in the homophobic campaign to bring down the Rip and Roll safe sex ads.
Wendy Francis, the head of the ACL in Queensland, has in the past referred to gay marriage as legalising child abuse, and recently met with Julia Gillard to present her with petitions against marriage equality.
The ACL was defeated by supporters of LGBTI rights and not only did the Rip and Roll campaign gain international awareness but the ads were reinstated.
JOIN THE ACTION
Tomorrow a large group of LGBT supporters intend to rally outside the ACL conference in Brisbane’s Everton Park, to remind the public that their kind of bigotry will not be tolerated. Australia doesn’t need their very own Westboro Baptist Church!
The people that recently stood up against this bigoted minority won with the recent Rip and Roll saga, and with marriage equality so close to victory, it is time to make sure the ACL’s bigotry is not welcomed.
Some protesters will be arriving at 8am, but the main event will kick off at 9am. Equal Love will have placards and balloons provided to wave in protest. They’re hoping this will be a loud, colourful and fun protest.
It’s time to take to the ACL’s front doorstep and meet their hate with equal love!
Brisbane Equal Love Rally
