Some say the elaborate drag shows at Oxford Street’s Midnight Shift really bring the house down, but on Saturday night that statement was taken a bit too literally.
A part of the upstairs bulkhead next to the smoking area’s awning came down around 2:20am on Sunday morning.
An onlooker snapped this photo and sent it to Same Same, before the area was cordoned off.
Luckily no-one was hurt. The night’s heavy rain had caused the collapse of the bolted-on bulkhead which had been there since the 1990s and not actually part of the smoking balcony. The club’s management says the area is now fixed and safe.
The Midnight Shift recently bought back its cover charge for its upstairs dancefloor as its full-production shows prove increasingly popular.
The Friday night price is $10 but $5 before Midnight, and Saturday night is $15, but $10 before Midnight. The Shift’s downstairs floor remains free of charge.
