The Sydney Mardi Gras crew have an Australia Day surprise for you!

This morning they announced pop megastar Kylie Minogue will join the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday March 3.

And the Mardi Gras crew say she’s set to “party with us all weekend long!”

The announcement comes as Minogue celebrates an awesome 25 years on the top of the charts. She has released eleven full-length studio albums, with number twelve expected to be released later this year.

“I am coming home for Mardi Gras this year!” she confirms. “I simply cannot wait, and it’s going to be a beautiful way to celebrate 25 years of this relationship.

“Your support over the years has just been phenomenal and I can’t wait to come home and share that with you. See you in March!”

The Mardi Gras crew are thrilled to have their favourite singer back. Kylie was first seen on their party stage way back in 1994, before returning to join her sister Dannii there in 1998.

This year the crew say they’ll honour Kylie during the parade with a spectacular K25 float paying homage to her career and support of the LGBTI community.

“There is no doubt that our community contains an enormous number of Kylie fans so we are delighted that she will be here,” says Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras CEO Michael Rolik.

“We will be pulling out all the stops to show her a good time.”

Here at Same Same we’re also super-excited to see our favourite Aussie pop princess rejoin Mardi Gras, for what’s set to be an amazing parade on March 3.

Later that night Mardi Gras’ fairground-themed official party Mardigrasland will include special guests RuPaul, D.E. Experience, Sneaky Sound System, Chicane and Horse Meat Disco. Perhaps Kylie will also be at the party? We’re not sure yet…
