Fresh from her stunning Superbowl show (see it here), Madonna’s crew have today confirmed she’ll head on a huge world tour which will end up in Australia early next year.

The pop queen’s representatives at Live Nation confirmed to Billboard today: “Of the shows we’re doing, I’d say 25%-30% will be markets she’s never played before.

“We’ll get to these markets where she’s never been, some exciting new places, and get back to Australia after too long a time.”

The tour, which will begin in Israel in May and also travel around America and Europe, coincides with the release of Madonna’s 15th studio album MDNA in March.

Madonna hasn’t performed in Australia since her 1993 Girlie Show tour, and her fans have been increasingly impatient to see their favourite singer downunder. Rumours that she’ll tour here were crushed back in October when a ‘leaked’ tour itinerary turned out to be fake.

Its great news! Now lets hope people will stop complaining! It's so old, boring & selfish. Lets see if people will now start whinging about ticket prices, songs or which city she goes to, ect. I really hope not :)

To be honest im not totally convinced, there have been countless rumours, assumptions and leaks in the media that have turned out to be complete bullshit. So i'll believe it when i see ticket sales and official dates and venues.

its been sooooo long since she has toured here, instead of doing concerts based on her new album she should do a greatest hits style tour to make up for all her other tours that she didnt bother bring here

No Mr Ash, I have some interest in it though, other wise I try to live by the yoga & buddha philosophy, go to lots of workshops, its so beautiful! :)

Australia is not a huge market, her entourage, the sets, production will be a cumbersome thing to lug around all over this big country of ours that's really far away from America.
For Madonna to come out here and prance around in black sequences and glittery costumes lip synching to her great songs she's performed in the past is a big deal for those that have been waiting 20 years for her to re-appear.
Madonna is iconic, a hard taskmaster, a workaholic and at her peak she was phenomenal. She's in great shape. She can do a world tour. Madonna will be great, I'm sure. Her presence will stun, amaze, enthrall and enchant. I hope she's not too hard on herself when she gets here. I'd hate to see her burn out whilst performing. I hope Madonna pays Molly Meldrum a special visit when she arrives in Melbourne so they can catch up. Hopefully Molly will be in better form by next year when Madonna gets here.

If Australia is not a huge market then howcome in the last 20 years there have been nurmerous tours by U2, beyonce, Roling Stones, Kylie, ACDC, Cher etc etc.

Like madonna, all those artists have massive sets designs and high production and logistics costs but have always recognised thier loyal aussie fans and have made repeated visits over the past 2 decades. Madonna simply has no excuse for snobbing us for so long.

hmmm i agree with dsquare and virgindirk.... i have loved the woman since i was 5 i remember her last tour being in like 93/94 i just wish i was old enough to have seen her back then and ive been waiting for a long time and to be honest im over waiting many promises have been made and all have been broken ...and it hurts me im not as excited as i should be ..i love the madonna i remember

Apparently front row tickets for the old dear's concerts in the US are $2,5000. I 'spose if you're too much of a has-been to make money by filling your concerts you try and make up for it by charging those who do go more.

Maybe it's time she followed Michael Jackson's lead and ended it all now before she embarrasses herself any further.

Madonna is American.
In comparison to the American market Australia is a small fish in one very big pond.
....I don't think Australia has ever been a high priority for Ms. Ciccone.
