Despite torrential rain spoiling Sydney’s Sunday, the organisers of the annual Bobby Goldsmith Foundation Bake-Off are so pleased and grateful to have raised lots of cash for the worthy cause.

Held at Oxford Street’s Slide Lounge, over 250 people turned up to peruse the tasty treat and raised $25,000 in the Bake Off’s 25th Silver Jubilee year.

“Everyone braving the rain to get out and support BGF just goes to show that Bake Off still holds a special place in the hearts of so many in our community,” says BGF CEO David Riddell.

“We had a superbly qualified judging panel, led by Claire deLune, with Shauna Jensen and Kevin Perry from Masterchef (all pictured above). Kevin was a fantastic addition to this in his first Bake Off. It was terrific to see such great support from everybody there.”

The Silver Jubilee Bake Off winners were:

Best Cake – Roy Hansen
Best Cake Professional – Ritsuho Sato & Naoko Ir
Best Decorated Cake – Jony Mok
Best Cup Cakes – Jo Goh
Best Fete Baking – Johnathon McClay
Best Tart – Katrina Thompson
Best Preserves – Duncan Leonch
Best Non-Edible and Best In Show – Rohan Forkner

Bake Off started as a community event by friends with a focus on fun and fundraising and it remains that way today. It is through events like Bake Off, and the friends who come and give their support, that the BGF can continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support to PLHIV across NSW.
