As many of you will recall, last month the Queensland Health Minister Laurence Springborg announced that the new Queensland LNP government had suddenly decided to pull its $2.5 million funding from LGBTI health organisation Healthy Communities (QAHC).
Since this announcement, the LGBT community and their supporters retaliated with the biggest rally in Queensland LGBTI rights history.
The minister maintains that an increase in HIV transmissions in Queensland indicates that Healthy Communities had failed in its mission to promote sexual health, and that they were becoming to politically active.
Shown below, Tip of the Iceberg is an independently produced video by award winning The Doctor’s Wife filmmaker Jonathan Duffy, created to expose the actions taken by a government threatened by the only health organisation that has encouraged members of the LGBTI community to speak out and demand equality in health.
Duffy says the purpose of the video is “to get the Queensland people to start questioning what they are being told by ministers, and to start thinking about their ‘ulterior motives’.”
