Taking trashy TV to new lows, a dating game show starting on ABC2 this week will test a single girl’s gaydar as she attempts to asses the sexuality of her suitors.
Eleven men are competing for the attention of single lady Cara, but some of them are gay, and if at the end of the season she picks one of the gays, he gets a massive cash prize.
Hosted by Jameela Jamil and gay chat show host Alan Carr on location in Spain, the eight-part show will play locally each Friday night.
It’s the UK show’s second season, transmitted a few weeks ago in Britain – the first season was shown way back in 2005. A year before that, an Australian version of the show, hosted by Natalie Garonzi, fell flat and did not return. It was a twist on American show Boy Meets Boy, in which a gay guy has to chose between gay and straight suitors all pretending to be straight.
Playing It Straight begins 8:30pm this Friday, 6 July on ABC2. Its trailer is shown below.
