This weekend you can meet the triumphant team that’s bringing home gay rugby’s coveted Bingham World Cup.
The team’s proud sponsors at Oxford Street’s Midnight Shift will hold a Welcome Home event for the Sydney Convicts rugby club and the Sydney Rangers football club this Saturday 21 July.
Sydney Convicts won the Cup and Bowl trophies in their trip to the Bingham Cup Rugby Tournament in Manchester last month. Saturday’s welcome home event also celebrates the Sydney Rangers Football Club and their successful trip to Mexico City for the Gay and Lesbian Football Association World Championship Cup.

“The Convicts are thrilled to have won the Bingham Cup and Bowl in Manchester,” says Sydney Convicts President David Whittaker. “The tour could not have been more successful.
“We wouldn’t be able to take two teams half way round the world to the Bingham Cup without the support of the Shift and the people who attend our fundraising events like Rugger Bugger.
“We would love to see all our supporters on 21 July so we can show them the Cup and Bowl and express our appreciation for their fantastic help and encouragement.”

All are welcome upstairs at the Midnight Shift from 10pm this Saturday night (July 21) to come and congratulate the teams and welcome them back to Sydney – entry to the venue will be free until midnight. It’s a great opportunity for supporters to come and meet the players of both teams and show their support for gay and lesbian sport in Sydney.
