The creatures of yesterday – the bands of tomorrow.

Same Same will soon take over Sydney’s The Australian Museum for an after-hours Queer Culture night, featuring an all-new line-up of the city’s most exciting emerging artists and performers, all under the haunting eyes of the Jurassic Lounge’s dinosaur skeletons.

Back for its fourth season this month, the Jurassic Lounge season of concerts is confirmed for ten busy weeks from August 28 until October 30, hosting Tuesday night sessions with booze, live music, art, film screenings, workshops, games and expert talks, all set to the backdrop of taxidermy displays and scientific specimens.

One of the Tuesday nights in October will be Same Same’s chance to program our own version of the Jurassic Lounge, with a variety of up-and-coming queer acts we hand-pick as we get stuck into Sydney’s world-class queer creative culture.

The talented women of Girl Thing will be doing it for the ladies of the festival too, and our sister site inthemix.com.au is presenting a weekly Rave Cave with guest DJs each week.

The fourth season of the Jurassic Lounge kicks off on Tuesday 28 August with Australia’s biggest-ever game of Truth or Dare, and closes ten weeks later on Tuesday 30 October with a Halloween Spectacular.

Also adding to the mammoth Jurassic schedule is offerings from the Sydney Fringe Festival, Sydney Underground Film Festival and Australia’s biggest anime and manga event, Animania. And to round it all out, the Museum cafe will put on a diner-themed menu dishing out American classics like hot dogs and sliders.

Hang tight for more details here and on Jurassic Lounge’s website.

And if you’re an up-and-coming musician who’d like to join us for Same Same’s Jurassic Lounge showcase, email us: matt@team.samesame.com.au.
