LGBT citizens of Sydney’s Western suburbs and their friends are invited for a day of picnicking and entertainment.
From 11am until 4pm on Sunday 16th September, former Big Brother gay cowboy David Graham will be the special guest at the annual event, which involves stalls, food, games, music, shows and the Doggywood! pageant where prizes are awarded for dogs who look like their owners plus well-dressed pooches.
“The Parramatta Pride Picnic provides an opportunity to meet other people and families, make new friends and most importantly just have a really fun day out in the middle of Parramatta,” says ACON’s Western Sydney health promoter Gavin Prendergast. “Music, drumming, competitions, prizes – the picnic has it all.”
Bring a packed lunch and picnic blanket or purchase from the BBQ supplied by the Western Suburbs Haven.
There will be stall holders on the day from local groups and services for the GLBTI community including: Harbour City Bears, MCC Good Shepherd, PFLAG, NSW Police, Wear It Purple, Team Sydney, Multiply Fitness Studio, ACON, the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and lesbian magazine LOTL.
The picnic will be officially opened by the Honourable John Robertson, NSW State Opposition leader and Shadow Minister for Western Sydney.
The Parramatta Pride Picnic will happen as usual on Parramatta Park – site 23 Pavilion Flat, entrance via O’Connell Street, Parramatta. Here’s a handy map:
