A slick new video aims to reassure Australians who have concerns about the consequences of legalising marriage equality – and encourages lawmakers to “get on the right side of history.”

The cutely-animated ad targets several commonly-heard misconceptions.

“A lot of what is being said right now doesn’t reflect what we actually know,” it begins. “For example, legalising same-sex marriage will lead to polygamy, incests and even people marrying their pets and plazmas? Well, none of these things have happened in any of the places around the world which have marriage equality.”

Voiced by Aussie actor Shane Jacobson, the video launches this week as plans for marriage equality progress in Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT, and with a federal vote expected soon.
