Rocco D’Amore is a charismatic and handsome drag king of Italian heritage originating from Sydney, Australia. Rocco began performing as a drag king dancer and solo artist 8 years ago in various clubs and events. After gaining much attention from fans, Rocco’s popularity spread to Melbourne where he traveled regularly to perform at the weekly King Victoria Drag King club. In 2005 Rocco made a permanent move to Melbourne and joined the King Victoria crew, as an integral and much admired member of Australia's longest running drag king weekly event.
Over the years Rocco has turned heads across Australia and overseas. Whilst retaining his level headedness and community spirit with his always zany sense of humour, his good looks have graced the covers and centrefold of SLIT magazine and Cherry Magazine, amongst others. He has been the subject of many photographers including John Sones who shot a series of photos of favourite King Victoria drag kings which exhibited at the Arts Centre Melbourne in 2007.
Some of Rocco’s performance highlights include Midsumma Festival Melbourne, the DIVA awards Sydney, the Rainbow awards Melbourne, and Sydney’s Big Day Out.
Rocco’s style and lip-syncing drag performance sees him cover an eclectic range of styles from the 80’s - 90’s to current day hits and the occasional Italian pop song. As MC, Rocco’s sharp and kooky sense of humour can make an audience think twice, but his ridiculous good looks and amazing cheek bones are too much to resist.
Rocco’s ability to charm and entertain the audience is second to none. He has wooed straight women, confused gay boys, challenged macho men and been every lesbian’s fantasy.
