Scott-Patrick Mitchell can be found elsewhere online at www.myspace.com/scottpatrickmitchell. Scott-Patrick Mitchell is a 30 year old poet & writer living in Perth, Western Australia. He has performed his poetry locally & nationally since 1998 both as a solo performer & as the vocalist for quirky off-beat musical duo SpokenNewWordMusic. He has had his work published extensively in such journals as staples, Egg (Poetry), still, woodwork, ISO Magazine, Westerly, SOUP, & online at viberwire.net & concretedialogues.org.au. His poems have also been published in such anthologies as neoteric, Interactive Geographies, naked eye & Poetry Creations. Recently he collaborated with some of Perth’s leading young artists & composers to produce an exhibition entitled The Plumerian, work from which was published online at Reality Games, an Australia Council initiative. In 2004 he was the recipient of Peter Cowan Writers Centre’s Young Writer-In-Residence, during which time he commenced work on his ficto-poetic novel, The Chaochamber, an absurdist piece which documents the trials & tribulations of shared house living…from the perspective of a daemon who can’t sin (part of which can be viewed online at his vibewire.net blog). In 2006 he featured as a vibewire.net Online Poet-In-Residence, chosen by then judge John Kinsella for displaying a “controlled, technically accomplished & innovative” style, one that created an “architectural imagism” of “cold sculptures that seethe within”. Scott-Patrick is also a committee member for West Australia’s annual Spring Poetry Festival, which takes place in Perth every September. Of late, he has produced a drag dress-up fashion spectacle called The Bridge for Artrage’s Northbridge Festival 2006, which featured the performers he used to manage at Connections Nightclub, a eclectic group called The Krazy Krushgroove Kids (The KKK). He also represented “drag” in the state’s biggest dance-off, Crossfire, which appeared during the Northbridge Festival. But by and large, Scott-Patrick writes freelance feature articles, mainly for the Australian gay press, which appear in glossy nationals like DNA Magazine. He is also the fashion writer for OUT inPerth. However, he is also an avid collector & photographer of street art, & he is currently compiling a collection of images & artist histories for a forthcoming compendium tentaivly called Street Art, Wall Scrawls & Tagisms: The Perth Part. He has over 5000 photographs of street art, & one of the largest private collections of original works in the state. He also produces a 'zine, it which he showcases talent from a myriad of different genres. Each issue, however, showcases a featured poet, artist, street artist & band/composer. The 'zine is called MoTHER [has words...]. & it was recently dubbed one of the best new titles in small press & independent publishing at the 2007 National Young Writers Festival.
To check out Scott-Patrick more visit him in cyberspace at www.myspace.com/scottpatrickmitchell or http://motherhaswords.blogspot.com for information on his 'zine [which is always open for general submissions all you young creatives!!!].
