With a career spanning more than 13 years, Sheryl Crow has long been on the top of her game, steadily unleashing a variety of radio friendly tunes upon us. She is the undisputed queen of soul rock from Missouri.
Back in 1994, Sheryl Crow was standing in the number one position on the ARIA charts with both her single All I Wanna Do and her album Tuesday Night Music Club. Since then she has released a further six albums which have led up to her latest title Hits And Rarities. The title is no smoke-screen, this has all the hits and highlights of her career.
She may not be put on rotation in a nightclub but there will be few who can’t sing along with If It Makes You Happy (from her album Sheryl Crow), My Favourite Mistake (from The Globe Sessions album) and of course her cover of the Guns ‘n’ Roses classic Sweet Child O’ Mine which she recorded for the movie Big Daddy in 1999. True to the title, all these hits are included on this album. Her earthy vocals, her honest lyrics and continually outstanding delivery sells each and every track on this collection.
If you are a little rusty on what Sheryl sounds like, it’s well worth the trip to go and purschase this album and introduce yourself to her soulful rock sound. If you haven’t heard Sheryl before, it’s a great way to find out what the hype is about. It’s also a great way to prepare yourself for her new studio album Detour slated for a February 2008 release.
