After attending a preview screening of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, I am pleased to say Michael Bay’s third addition to the series is by far the most superior in the franchise.

I’ll be honest. Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen left a bad taste in my mouth. There is only a certain amount of Megan Fox running around in tight outfits and crappy one liners that one can cope with! Michael Bay is known for his tongue in cheek one liners, over the top explosive action and this latest instalment of Transformers delivers that and much more.

Michael Bay indicated time and time again that the script for this movie would be far more superior then the second film and I’ll be straight up, he was spot on. In this movie you get much more then a massive war between the Decepticons and the Autobots, you actually get an emotional story that connects and resonate with the audience. You just have to watch the scene nearing the end with Bumble Bee to know what I’m talking about. I haven’t felt so much emotion for a robot since the movie AI.

The cleverly written script manages to find new ways to place the Transformers into world events, such as the first walk on the moon (including a few others later, turns out pretty much all the moon missions were to investigate a crashed alien ship), there is also reference to a particularly nasty accident that occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the ‘80s. The references to our historic events only fuel the plot on.

The action in this movie is of epic proportions and doesn’t disappoint in the slightest. The final hours is non-stop on the edge of your seat viewing. Chicago becomes ground zero for the epic climax, and boy does it get a beating. One thing that I found particularly cool during the Chicago invasion sequence was, civilians actually die. I mean blown to shreds with skulls rolling along the ground. This just added to the seriousness of the events and the darker tone that this movie took on.

Michael Bay learnt from previous mistakes – no Megan Fox. Instead she’s been replaced with a new character played by Victoria Secret model Rosie Huntington Whitely. Okay there was a few cheesy scenes, but overall this girl is miles better then her predecessor and can actually act. She is definitely more then just a pretty face and Megan Fox must be seriously kicking herself for burning certain bridges with Michael Bay by comparing him to a Nazi. Oh and Shia Labeouf is what you’d expect, but he works really well in this movie, so I really couldn’t complain.

I really don’t want to give too much away about this movie, but what I can say is, this instalment is the Transformers movie to top all Transformers movies, and I must emphasise on the fact that this is a must see 3D flick!

Now just like Toy Story 3 was a good way to bring a franchise to an end, I hope Michael Bay does likewise with Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. You really can’t get any better then this!
