Missy Higgins seems to have discovered the formula to a user-friendly single and she’s sticking to it. You simply take one poppy yet uninspired song, release it to every major radio station and your end result is one top five hit. Let’s face it, Steer is Scar in a different pitch. It sounds okay, it has the ability to get stuck in your head for days, it will get lots of radio play and the teenage girls will love it.

Missy Higgins is a fantastically talented singer/songwriter who wastes her talent by releasing “safe music”. This is clearly evident on her latest ep. The Steer EP is a four track EP, released as a preview to Missy’s second album, On A Clear Night. The opening track Steer is the only low point on this EP. Missy shows us what she is really capable of with the heart breaking Leave A Note. Dusty Road could be a solid favourite, if it got the attention it deserved, with a tune that draws you in and leaves you hooked.

Not suprisingly, every track on the EP is more enjoyable than the title track – it’s certainly worth a listen based solely on these tracks.

A definite must have for fans.

Missy Higgins – Steer EP and album On A Clear Night are both out now through EMI.
