Look out Perth, Sydney and Adelaide – a raucous new show is about to hit town. I must say a few things about this show had me fearing I was about to be held hostage giving away an hour of life I would never get back.

Thankfully I couldn’t have been more wrong, so don’t let the title deter you from going, this little ditty has something for everyone.

A simple concept on stage, one white line creates a space for some mind bending delicious theatre to unfold. Neil Watkins is a captivating story teller and successfully takes you on journey through what I am sure were some pretty dark nights of the soul. Using hypnotic rhyme as the method of delivery Watkins manages to power through such a vast array of subjects that at the times when the house lights would fade. It felt like a reprieve to have a second for my brain to digest all the content only to be left anticipating what could possibly be next.

Watkins life story is one of tragedy and triumph, it explores everything from sex and drug addiction, catholic guilt to HIV. I felt torn writing the review and what to include because one of the beautiful things about this one man show is the element of surprise. Watkins has captured a general sense of madness through out the show only to have moments of such clarity and wisdom as all the pieces fall into place.

If you, a lover or a friend has ever had a spiritual experience, it is guaranteed to keep your attention. The truth will set you free they say well Watkins is a free man indeed. A must see for the upcoming Fringe season.
