The Return of the Spice Girls


It’s official, the Spice Girls are reforming and they’re coming to Sydney!

Their official website has just been updated with news that has been rumoured for the past few years: all five girls are reforming for a final worldwide tour. But unlike recent major tours (hello Madonna) that have skipped on Australia, they’ve announced that they’re hitting our shores.

The Spice Girls will be performing a concert in Sydney on January 17 next year, following shows in 10 other key locations around the world, including New York, London, Beijing and Hong Kong. They’ll be treating fans old and new to a brand new, state of the art live extravaganza under the banner, ‘The Return of the Spice Girls’.

In typical Spice Girls fashion, their website is full of enthusiasm: “Hey everybody!! We’re back!! Can you believe it!!...Who knows if this will ever happen again, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity! Girl Power is back and stronger than ever.”

You can say that again.

EMI Music will be releasing the long-awaited Spice Girls’ greatest hits album in November 2007 worldwide.

Fifty five million records sold, an astonishing nine UK No.1 singles, three-back-to-back UK Christmas No.1 singles and, in Wannabe, the biggest selling single ever by an all female group, the Spice Girls have very little to prove, except that proper pop is back.

To celebrate the reunion The Spice Girls will be making their first ever official documentary for TV broadcast around the world with highly respected director Bob Smeaton. The documentary will tell the definitive story of the Spice Girls. Should be interesting viewing.
