Divinyls

Was there ever an Australian band that thrilled audiences more than Divinyls?

Chrissy Amphlett and Mark McEntee led one of the greatest of all Australian bands through an extraordinary career that pushed all the boundaries. Their raw, rock’n’roll spirit embodied hits like ‘Pleasure And Pain’, ‘Science Fiction’, ‘Boys In Town’, ‘I Ain’t Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore’ and the classic ‘I Touch Myself’ and their blistering, mesmerising live shows fueled by Amphlett’s sexually charged performances took audiences to new heights.

This seminal Australian band charged onto the international stage, amassing two million albums worldwide, hits in both the US and the UK and winning a reputation as one of the most powerful and exciting bands to ever leave these shores.

After performing last in 1997, Divinyls were popular inductees into the 2006 ARIA Hall Of Fame and put in a red-hot reunion performance. With old energies rekindled, this much-loved iconic Australian band are now back in the saddle and ready to do it all again.

There’s a sensational new single ‘Don’t Wanna Do This’ (Universal) recorded in Las Vegas in September and produced by Pat Thrall and Charley Drayton. The single is delivered to radio next Monday (October 22) and has a wicked animated video due soon. ‘Don’t Wanna Do This’ has all the earmarks of classic Divinyls rock with the unmistakable Amphlett vocals to the fore – it makes you realize how much we’ve missed them! It is the forerunner to a new album due in early 2008.

The announcement of the band’s return to the concert stage to headline this year’s Homebake Festival was met with rapturous response, with all 20,000 tickets selling out fast. Today, the band announce further shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide – the ‘Don’t Wanna Do This’ tour – with special guests The Church.

As a special bonus because it’s SO good to have Divinyls back, a copy of the ‘Don’t Wanna Do This’ single will be included with EVERY concert ticket. Fans will collect the single on the night of the gigs, so they can take home their very own special piece of new Divinyls music!

Chrissy and Mark will be joined by Divinyls members drummer Charley Drayton and guitarist Charlie Owen, with a new bass player tbc. Who’d wanna miss this!!
