Aurora Dinner - Hollywoodland


This year the Aurora Annual Dinner is on at Paddington Town Hall on Saturday 26 July.

The theme is HOLLYWOODLAND, a nod to the golden years of Hollywood and all that’s magic about the silver screen! Imagine heroes and goddesses, idols and icons. Think the greatest movies of all time, the greatest music from the movies, and the greatest moments from the big-screen that reflect our lives, our communities, our stories!

To host the evening and making his long-awaited premiere on the Aurora stage, in full technicolour, will be the fabulous Bob Downe – a matinee idol if there ever was one! And our leading lady for the evening will be the divine Nell Schofield, actress, host, arts reporter and film reviewer for Channel Nine, Foxtel’s Showtime Channel and Melbourne’s Sunday Herald Sun.

Taking time out from his current national tour Bob Downe sent this message to all would be Aurora starlets.

“Hi kids! ...and the award goes to whoever can frock up more glamorously than me and Nell! Seriously, it’s gonna be a wonderful night, and will take my mind off missing out on lead parts in ‘Sex And The City’ and ‘Australia’. So buy your tickets now and help me forget!”

As always, some of our most wonderful performers will be on hand to entertain – expect a mix of ‘legends’ and ‘lookers’ – something for everyone’s taste!

In revealing the Annual Dinner for 2008, Alex Sosnov the Aurora Group Chairperson said:

“The Aurora Annual Dinner is now in its ninth year. It’s where it all comes together for Aurora – a glamorous celebration of our community and also our most important fundraiser. It’s really shaping up to be a very special event, and bias aside I would not want to miss it! Guests can expect prizes and auction items that will inspire desire, and know that funds raised benefit the whole community not just one specific cause”.
