Summer Gay Day

Last year’s inaugural Summer Gay Day planted the seeds for something special on the Sydney calendar. Now, in its second year, the Summer Gay Day flower is ready to bloom twice as beautifully in 2008.

On Saturday November 29, Summer Gay Day lands at Kippax Lake, Moore Park for the second year of Gay Day fun.

The line up for 2008 is shaping up to be a stellar example of the hottest rising stars of the Australian dance music scene, including (but certainly not limited to):

Hosted By Ruby Rose
This openly lesbian MTV VJ has all the girls and the boys lining up for her. They might need to make it past The Veronica’s Jess Origlasso first, but this is one sassy lady who’ll be ramping up the crowd and keeping Summer Gay Day kicking well into the night as your 2008 Host.

Featuring

Dirty Laundry (Live)
Nothing can really prepare you for a Dirty Laundry experience – it’s non-stop hands in the air, fist pumping action full of good times, tight rhymes and funky basslines. A hybrid of live instrumentation, vocals and electronica, trust us when we say Summer Gay Day will never be the same ever again.

The Stafford Brothers (QLD)
Coming in at #2 in the recent ITM50 DJ Awards, it’s not hard to see why Gold Coast brothers Matt and Chris Stafford have made it to the top. Sizzling hot dance tunes, mesmerising stage performances and a string of killer releases means these DJs, fresh from a sell-out European tour, are ready to shake your day.

Mobin Master (VIC)
Producer and DJ extraordinaire, you might know Mobin Master for his smash hit of the year, “Show Me Love”. It catapulted him to the front of stage where he belongs, and is known for his thumping dance anthems that are so funky we challenge you to not put your hands in the air.

Alan Thompson
What more is there to say about the man consistently ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 100 disc jockeys in the world who decided to settle in Sydney and share his musical wealth with us? Long-time resident of DTPM London, co-founder of DTPM Sydney and all-round musical maestro, Alan returns for his second SGD appearance in 2008.

Lisa German (UK)
A true legend of London clubbing, DJ Lisa German’s sets at previous Mardi Gras parties are still the stuff of legend. The Hed Kandi resident is on her way down under to make some more music that legends are going to be made of. Don’t miss it.

Paul Heron (UK)
The resident DJ at Crash in England, Paul Heron is jetting into Sydney to give us a sample of the current musical treasures sweeping European dancefloors. Expect music so fresh that the records will still be steaming.

Kate Monroe
Summer Gay Day favourite Kate Monroe will again be showing us why she long ago earned the title of Australia’s First Lady of House.

DJ Neroli (QLD)
The only lesbian DJ to rank in the Top 50 DJs in Australia in 2008, Brisbane’s Family resident Neroli takes one for ladies to show us how they get dancefloors moving from interstate.

Beth Yen (UK)
One of the undiscovered talents recently arrived from the UK, Beth Yen knows how to get a party started in all the right ways.

Eddie Coulter
The rising star of Sydney’s DJ community, Eddie has proven himself more than capable of filling a dancefloor with the first drop of his beat.

Jason Barry
New kid on the DJ block, Jason’s impeccable taste and cutting-edge pop mentality has him in more and more demand with every party he plays.

Plus the Videokidz, Matt Sawyer, 4 O’Clock Dancers, The Hoopaholics and our very own Ambassador Aunty Mavis and more, more, more.
