In June 2012, internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre comes to Melbourne with a new work TERRAIN by celebrated Aboriginal choreographer Frances Rings. This powerful fusion of contemporary dance and storytelling is commissioned by Bangarra’s Artistic Director Stephen Page.
Melbourne will host the World Premiere season of TERRAIN from June 29 to July 7 in Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse. The production will then tour nationally to Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane.
Described as a hymn to country, TERRAIN transports us to Lake Eyre, the place of Australia’s inland sea : one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world.
Beyond the ancient vastness we travel through drought and deluge, we witness the ephemeral transformation of place where nature delivers in abundance, promises all, but guarantees nothing.
